Brodis Creative Piece Of Writing

A few weeks ago in Te Ngahere we created creative pieces of writing. We had to use language features in our writing like onomatopoeia, metaphors, similes and adjectives. I pretty much knew all of the language features but I just used them again. Our WALT was to create a creative piece of writing. Next time I am going to teach myself new things to do in my writing like Idioms.
  WALT: use similes and metaphors
Narrative

Once upon a time there was a girl named Sofia, Sofia is eleven years old is always wears shorts and t- shirts. She lived with her mother and father in a house near the beach. The beach she lived next to was named turtle bay, the beach was called turtle bay because there was always turtles in the water. The sun always shined onto the water. Turtle Bay was like a paradise of deep blue and green.

It was a sunday morning and Sofia was having breakfast she was having porridge, her  porridge was as hot as the sun. When Sofia finished eating breakfast she took her plate to the kitchen,  her plate was as dirty as a pig after it has rolled in the mud. Sofia went to get changed into her togs so she could go swimming at turtle bay so she could swim with turtle like she does every sunday after breakfast. So Sofia run out to turtle bay the ocean was an angry wolf sweeping the sands in search of food. Sofia made a big splash as she jumped into the water. Sofia started to swim with some of the turtles then she saw a turtle with a plastic bag around his neck like a rubberband around your hand. She said people have been not reducing, reusing or recycling.

Sofia rushed to the turtle and grabbed the turtle. Sofia rushed the turtle to her house near the beach and told her mum that the turtle was injured by the plastic bag around the turtle's neck. Sophias mum rung up the sea animals doctor and told the sea animals doctor that a sea turtle was injured by a plastic bag, the vet said to bring the turtle to the sea animal doctor immediately. Sophias mum, Sofia and the turtle rushed into the car and drives off  to the sea animal doctor. When they got there they rush threw the door to the front office and said we need a sea doctor immediately. The Turtle was finding it hard breath. The office lady was a nice cookie. The lady said go to the door on the left and you should she a animal doctor in there and the doctor will get the plastic of the turtle. So Sofias mum and Sofia took the turtle the room the lady said to go to. There was a sea animal doctor that said put the turtle on the bed so I can look at him. After the doctor looked at the turtle he cut the plastic of the turtle’s neck and the turtle looked much happier. Sofia’s mum and Sofia took the turtle back to turtle bay and released the turtle. Sofia put the turtle in the water and the turtle swam off to his friends. Sofia got into the car and said to her mum that we should make signs to tell people reduce reuse and recycle. So the next day Sofia and her mum put up signs everywhere about the turtle they helped and that people should reduce, reuse and recycle.

Persuasive Writing

Last week in Te Ngahere we wrote persuasive pieces of writing. We were learning to use the correct structure for a persuasive piece of writing. We have been doing persuasive pieces
of writing for a while now. My writing is about plastic bags. I need to work on not putting capitals everywhere. Here is my writing.

Should Plastic Bags Be Used At
Supermarkets?

Plastic bags are all over the world. Plastic bags are destroying the world. Humans use a lot of plastic bags each year that you can wrap around the
earth over fifty five times with plastic bags. I think that we should use reusable bags instead of plastics bags at the supermarket because of these reasons.

Sea animals are dying because of plastic bags. Humans don’t think plastic
bags are food but sea animals do. Turtles think that plastic bags are jellyfish
so that's why some turtles are dying. Some sea animals think that little pieces
of plastic bags are plankton and they think it is a whole group of them so they
eat a lot, and the little pieces of plastic bags will get stuck in their throats.

There is enough plastic bags to circle the globe sixty three times. When the plastic bags get to the landfill and trash buries the plastic bags, the trash on
top of the plastic bags make not much oxygen for the bags so it slows down
the process. Some people say that plastic bags will never break down.

When you melt plastic bags it releases a gas into the air which then goes into the ozone layer which makes a hole that makes it hotter, then icebergs melt
and makes the water higher and also kills the sea animals living on the ice bergs. It creates greenhouse gasses.

For all of these reasons I think that we should not have plastic bags in the
world or at supermarkets.

America Report

  America
Do you know that there is three hundred and twenty three million people living in America? That's a lot of people. America is a really big country so that's why lots of people live there. If you want to learn more facts keep reading the Information Report, to find out about traditions, their money, population and sports.

America has a lot of traditions, like America celebrates Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Groundhog Day and there are heaps more. Some traditions of America we don’t even celebrate in New Zealand.

The names of American dollars are called  pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters and notes are 1, 2, 5, 20, 50 and 500 dollar notes.

The five most popular sports played in America are soccer, ice hockey , basketball, baseball and the top popular sport is football. Fun fact: The first football game was played in 1869. American football has won lots of tournaments.

Hope you enjoyed. Did you learn a lot about sports, money, traditions and the population?

A couple of weeks ago Te Ngahere had to do writing about our  chosen country my chosen country was America. We were learning to write an information report. We had to write facts about our chosen country, I actually learnt a lot of facts about America that I didn't even know. I really enjoyed writing my information report. After we did our first story we got to do another one. I managed to write five reports they were about America’s animals, sports, plants and famous people and also my first story.

Fidget Spinner

A few weeks ago Te Ngahere and Te Maunga made fidget spinner art. We were learning to use all of the space as we could, on the A3 piece of paper. We also had to use crayon and dye to do our fidget spinners. We also did a fidget spinner story, my goal was to use the correct structure.

Here is my story!!!

I am talking to you today because I think that fidget spinners should not be allowed in the classroom or even at school.

Firstly, they can distract you in class and they can affect other people in their learning, then teachers will take the fidget spinner off you and then you might not get it back, our teachers say that they will give it to their nephews.

Secondly, somebody else might want a go with your fidget spinner and then they might break your fidget spinner then you might get upset.

Thirdly, if you are playing with a fidget spinner then you put it in your bag somebody might get your fidget spinner and then they might keep it.

For all these reasons I think that kids should be not allowed fidget spinners at Paihia School or in the classroom.

Magical Forest with the Beast Animation

Once upon a time there was a magical forest with all sorts of Magical Creatures that were really friendly. But there was a Beast that was a really big spider that eats humans and all of the Magical and friendly Creatures.

One day the Beast had a plan to try and eat all of the Humans and the friendly Creatures. The beast never comes out at day. So the Beast decided to go to the magical Creatures and the Humans homes in the day.
The next day he went out to their homes he saw so many magical creatures he could not believe it, he ran and started to eat some of the magical creatures. Then superman came out of nowhere and killed the beast and brought back some of the live’s that the beast killed.

The friendly animals moved to a different magical forest and the humans moved to America and they were for ever safe from the Beast.

I created a fiction character and a setting writing to go with my narrative. My goal in my narrative writing was to use the structure and descriptive words. After that we made an animation that is about our narrative. My animation was about a spider called the Beast that eats the humans and magical creatures.

Spider

Spider

The spider had eight big skinny legs.
The spider smelt like rotten fish.
He has big fat stinky warts on his body.
He has a big black bum that has a stinger to kill humans with so he can eat them like scrambled eggs.
They have antennas on their head.
They are always nasty and mean.
They act nice to you for a little bit then like trick you.
They are bigger then a two story house.
Their eyes are big as bean bags.
They live in the forest with big spider webs.
But they are scared of trolls because trolls eat them whole.

This is my fictional story about a spider. I was learning to use describing words in my story.
I think I did good at describing the spider. Next time I think I should put a picture on the story.

Yummy Tangelo

Tangelos

I saw the Tangelo in my hand it looked like a bumpy ball. It smelt like sweet smell. I rubbed it slowly in my hand it was soft and mushy like the mussel on my leg. I slowly tear off the Tangelo’s skin it sounds like a snapping sound. It Tasted like a mandarin but sweeter. As I put it in my mouth the juice oozed down my mouth. It was yummy. The pips were hard as rocks. I loaded the tangelo quickly into my mouth because it was so good, I even devoured the pips.

This is my Tangelo story. I was learning to use Adverbs in my story. I think I have to work on doing Adverbs next week. I think I did well at describing the Tangelo by using my five sense’s, Look, smells, tastes, sounds, feels.
I think I did good at using my  5 senses.

I Remember

Remember

I Remember…

Dipping my feet in the cold water, wanting to get in.
Then a big splash, I jumped in, it was warm just like a bath.
I put my head under and looked at all beautiful shells they had so many colors.
As the waves go past they push me back like I’m in a storm.
As I come out the sand sticks to my feet like I’m a magnet.
I grab my towel to warm up to be like a hot water bottle.
That was my summer.

I was learning to write my own descriptive writing about my Summer. Notice the
structure used in the exemplar. I had to describe something I was talking about.
Making writing interesting for audience by using descriptive adjectives, verbs and
nouns. To edit and recraft my writing. I think I need to improve on making things
more descriptive. What I think I did well,  I did a good story with some similes.
