P and I Show

A couple of weeks ago in Te Ngahere we made digital P&I  advertisement posters. We made our posters on a google drawing. Our WALT was to research the Bay of Islands P&I show. I learnt that the P&I show has been running since the 1890s, I also learnt that it was the 175th year of the P&I show. One of the success criterias was we had to say when it happened. Here is my digital P&I advertisement poster.

Brodis Creative Piece Of Writing

A few weeks ago in Te Ngahere we created creative pieces of writing. We had to use language features in our writing like onomatopoeia, metaphors, similes and adjectives. I pretty much knew all of the language features but I just used them again. Our WALT was to create a creative piece of writing. Next time I am going to teach myself new things to do in my writing like Idioms.
  WALT: use similes and metaphors
Narrative

Once upon a time there was a girl named Sofia, Sofia is eleven years old is always wears shorts and t- shirts. She lived with her mother and father in a house near the beach. The beach she lived next to was named turtle bay, the beach was called turtle bay because there was always turtles in the water. The sun always shined onto the water. Turtle Bay was like a paradise of deep blue and green.

It was a sunday morning and Sofia was having breakfast she was having porridge, her  porridge was as hot as the sun. When Sofia finished eating breakfast she took her plate to the kitchen,  her plate was as dirty as a pig after it has rolled in the mud. Sofia went to get changed into her togs so she could go swimming at turtle bay so she could swim with turtle like she does every sunday after breakfast. So Sofia run out to turtle bay the ocean was an angry wolf sweeping the sands in search of food. Sofia made a big splash as she jumped into the water. Sofia started to swim with some of the turtles then she saw a turtle with a plastic bag around his neck like a rubberband around your hand. She said people have been not reducing, reusing or recycling.

Sofia rushed to the turtle and grabbed the turtle. Sofia rushed the turtle to her house near the beach and told her mum that the turtle was injured by the plastic bag around the turtle's neck. Sophias mum rung up the sea animals doctor and told the sea animals doctor that a sea turtle was injured by a plastic bag, the vet said to bring the turtle to the sea animal doctor immediately. Sophias mum, Sofia and the turtle rushed into the car and drives off  to the sea animal doctor. When they got there they rush threw the door to the front office and said we need a sea doctor immediately. The Turtle was finding it hard breath. The office lady was a nice cookie. The lady said go to the door on the left and you should she a animal doctor in there and the doctor will get the plastic of the turtle. So Sofias mum and Sofia took the turtle the room the lady said to go to. There was a sea animal doctor that said put the turtle on the bed so I can look at him. After the doctor looked at the turtle he cut the plastic of the turtle’s neck and the turtle looked much happier. Sofia’s mum and Sofia took the turtle back to turtle bay and released the turtle. Sofia put the turtle in the water and the turtle swam off to his friends. Sofia got into the car and said to her mum that we should make signs to tell people reduce reuse and recycle. So the next day Sofia and her mum put up signs everywhere about the turtle they helped and that people should reduce, reuse and recycle.

Persuasive Writing

Last week in Te Ngahere we wrote persuasive pieces of writing. We were learning to use the correct structure for a persuasive piece of writing. We have been doing persuasive pieces
of writing for a while now. My writing is about plastic bags. I need to work on not putting capitals everywhere. Here is my writing.

Should Plastic Bags Be Used At
Supermarkets?

Plastic bags are all over the world. Plastic bags are destroying the world. Humans use a lot of plastic bags each year that you can wrap around the
earth over fifty five times with plastic bags. I think that we should use reusable bags instead of plastics bags at the supermarket because of these reasons.

Sea animals are dying because of plastic bags. Humans don’t think plastic
bags are food but sea animals do. Turtles think that plastic bags are jellyfish
so that's why some turtles are dying. Some sea animals think that little pieces
of plastic bags are plankton and they think it is a whole group of them so they
eat a lot, and the little pieces of plastic bags will get stuck in their throats.

There is enough plastic bags to circle the globe sixty three times. When the plastic bags get to the landfill and trash buries the plastic bags, the trash on
top of the plastic bags make not much oxygen for the bags so it slows down
the process. Some people say that plastic bags will never break down.

When you melt plastic bags it releases a gas into the air which then goes into the ozone layer which makes a hole that makes it hotter, then icebergs melt
and makes the water higher and also kills the sea animals living on the ice bergs. It creates greenhouse gasses.

For all of these reasons I think that we should not have plastic bags in the
world or at supermarkets.

Visual Mihi

Last week in Te Ngahere, we made google drawings for our visual mihi. We did a visual mihi so we can remember parts of the mihi. We had to understand the mihi and pronounce the mihi. I chose these images because they remind me what is coming next. Here is my visual mihi.
